Dales stone-cottage bed and breakfast accommodation

If you’re looking for homely bed and breakfast accommodation within an old stone cottage in a beautiful and quiet Yorkshire Dales setting, with hearty food, West Winds is very likely the place for you.

...Pot of tea, home-made cake and complimentary chocolates...

Breakfast at West Winds

We hope you’ll agree that West Winds is ideal for a restful stay. We are situated in a quiet location away from the main road and can almost guarantee a night silent of traffic and other urban noise. Outside are dark night skies unspoilt by city-glow with, depending on the weather of course, panoramic views of the stars.

But staying at West Winds is more than just a bed for the night. When you arrive, we provide a welcoming pot of tea and home-made cake in our tearooms and in your room you’ll find fresh flowers, a complimentary box of Yorkshire-made Whitaker’s chocolates and a help-yourself bowl of organic fruit.

In-season we can offer High Tea or Early Dinner in the tearooms (open Wednesday to Sunday between March and October; last orders 6pm) and if it’s a fine evening you can sit out in the tea-garden, take a stroll down by the river or try Dales beers in the Buck Inn.

You can look forward to a wide range of breakfast options in the morning, perhaps a full English or vegetarian English, home-made beans with toast or maybe a ‘Dales Continental’ option featuring tasty Yorkshire cheeses or Yockenthwaite Farm Granola with natural yoghurt and Yorkshire honey. It's all served in our tearooms at a table set with bone china on a hand-embroidered cloth.

Our packed lunches are also popular and reasonably priced. We can provide a choice of sandwiches with buttered scone, home-made cake and fruit, and we’ll also happily fill up your flask with a hot drink from the kitchen, free of charge.

...View across the valley...

View from double room at West Winds

We have three guest bedrooms:

Our double room looks out across the valley towards the fells above Redmire Wood. It is full of character with some fine old furniture and watercolours of Dales scenery by local artists. A television helps you to keep in touch with life outside the Dales, if you want to… The price for the room, including breakfast, is £56 for two people or £33 for one person for one night. If you stay longer, on the second night the price comes down to £46 for two people or £28 for one person.

The twin room is at the side of the house and is done out with pine furniture and, again, watercolours of local Dales views. It has two single beds. The room is quite small and so the price, including breakfast, is just £50 for two people or £30 for one person for one night. If you stay longer, on the second night the price comes down to £40 for two people or £25 for one person. There is no television in the room.

Our single room looks up towards Buckden Ghyll in the direction of Buckden Pike. It’s ideal for solo walkers and has framed photographs of local scenery on the walls. There is a television in the room. The price for the room, including breakfast, is £28 for one night. If you stay longer, on the second night the price comes down to £23.

If you want to book all three rooms, you can do so for a total of £115, which works out at just £23 per person. Again, if you stay longer than one night, the price falls, allowing you to save even more on the standard rates. For a second or third night, the price is £90, just £18 per person.

...Fresh organic milk...

All rooms have central heating. There is a wash basin in your room and a shared bathroom is close by. A tea/coffee tray allows you to make a drink at any time, for which we provide fresh organic milk.

If you’re staying for two nights, why not consider a Best of Yorkshire Special Break, which includes a Luxury Yorkshire Afternoon Tea for two in our tearooms or tea-garden.

And if you are able to travel to West Winds using public transport or a bicycle, you can opt for a Green Reward Special Break, which gives you an attractive discount and the chance to have a tree planted in the Dales in your name!
