Gift vouchers
If you enjoy your visit to our tearooms or your overnight stay, why not give someone you know a West Winds Gift Voucher so they can come and experience it themselves? It could be a unique present...
Gift vouchers for Lunch, Afternoon Tea and High Tea are available to the value of £10 and £20.
A gift voucher for bed and breakfast covers the cost of tea and home-baked cake on arrival, bedroom chocolates and full English breakfast in the morning. It provides accommodation for two people in a double or twin room for one night and costs £54 or £50.
Vouchers are high quality and suitable for presentation. They are printed in full colour on A4-size stiff paper and include pictures of Buckden and the tea garden, with full location and contact details. They come in a card-stiffened A4-size envelope. All vouchers are available by post (please send a cheque payable to Lynn Thornborrow) or from your waitress in the tearooms.
Take-home cakes
If you enjoy our cakes in the tearooms, you can take home a slice or two to enjoy later.

- Rich brandy fruitcake, with a wedge of Traditional Wensleydale cheese
- Dales cut-and-come-again cake, a deceptively more-ish light fruitcake, with a wedge of Traditional Wensleydale cheese
- Traditional Yorkshire parkin, made with ginger, black treacle and oatmeal from an old Yorkshire recipe
We also offer take-home boxes of Fruitcake and Cheese, each containing two pieces of home-made rich brandy fruitcake with a 200g waxed Traditional Wensleydale cheese, made at Hawes.

Traditional Yorkshire hand-made rag-rugs
Traditional Yorkshire rag-rugs (also known as peg or stob rugs) made in Buckden by Elsie Thornborrow are available at West Winds. Elsie's work won first prize at the 2006 Kilnsey Show, one of the most respected agricultural and rural life shows in the North. Elsie's rugs are produced through hours of painstaking work, hooking strips of mixed cloth through a hessian base. The method has been handed down through generations of Dales people putting unwanted clothing and material to good use. Currently Elsie is producing sheep-design hearth rugs (£45), door rugs (£25) and wall hangers (£10).
High quality local preserves
Our jams and marmalades are either home-made at West Winds or bought from Raydale Preserves, based at Stalling Busk near Semer Water. We sell a range of products made by this traditional jam-maker for you to try at home. For further details, visit the Raydale Preserves website.
Greetings cards and postcards
We sell Yorkshire greetings cards and unique postcards of West Winds and Buckden, together with a range of interesting and thought-provoking message cards from Leeds Postcards, with the proceeds donated entirely to charity.
You can choose to donate to either the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust or the Home Farm Trust.
Donations to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will help protect Grass Wood near Grassington, a limestone nature reserve rich in wild flowers such as St John’s wort, bluebell, lily of the valley, herb Paris, green hellebore, bloody cranesbill, wild strawberry, rock rose and orchids, and containing woodland birds such as wood warbler, woodcock and green woodpecker. Conifer plantation areas are being replaced with native broad-leaves to improve their wildlife value.
For more information about work carried out by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, visit the trust's website.
The Home Farm Trust is a national charity that provides care for people with a learning disability and support for their carers and families. In Leeds the trust provides residential and day-care packages, as well as supported living arrangements for 65 people in 16 houses around the city.
For further details of the Home Farm Trust, visit the charity's website.
